Ok, I'll add more. Kansas in Las Vegas is always good for me, Carol likes to go there so I dont have to twist her arm and even tho the 4 hour drive throuh the desert isnt alot of fun it's not difficult either. Over the years I have noticed Las Vegas crowds can be loud and wild, I think because most people have hotel rooms so they dont have to worry about drinking and driving. This time it was alittle quieter but I think because it was a sunday night. Then the crowd really came alive during the encore, the people jumped to their feet during Fight Fire With Fire. It really "fired" them up you could say. Ofcourse they charged the stage during Wayward Son, danced and sang along. The opening act was Starship. The only member from the glory days of the 80s is singer Mickey Thomas, and wow that guy still has a voice. He has a gift for sure. The other band members do a very good job at reproducing the sound. Singer Stephanie Calvet is very talented and entertaining. She does a decent job at the Grace Slick parts eve paying homage to the Jefferson Airplane days with rockin' versions of White Rabit and Somebody To Love. They played most of the big hits, Jane-Find Your Way Back- Sara- Nothins Gonna Stop Us Now and ofcourse one of my least favorite songs- We Built This City. They also added a crowd pleaser Fooled Around And Fell In Love, the first hit song for Mickey when he was with Elvin Bishop. After the break Kansas came out and blew the roof off ! They look and sound great, the intro of Howling At The Moon going to Point Of Know Return and then Belexes got the show off to a good start. The sound in the room was excellent, very even mix of instruments and vocals, I even heard Ragsdale's back ground vocals clearly. David is always so fun to watch, does anyone love their job as much as he seems to ? It was a pleasure to listen to Steve sing alnight, The Wall especially. Richard Williams gets better all the time and Phil was working as hard as he always does, excellent drummer. It was fun to watch Billy interact with the front row, he seems to have a great time with the fans up front. I think the highlight for me was Song For America and Miracles Out Of Nowhere. I sometimes think it would be good for them to leave those out but then they play them and I go wow, I'm glad they still do those songs. They are awsome concert tunes ! Anyway, 2 nights in Las Vegas, I kept the drinking and gambling to a minimum (well not enough money to spend right now) Carol and I saw good friends (hey LL, thanks for driving after the show) made new good friends and really had a great weekend. I'll end with-Kansas is still playing great these days, go see this band !
